Why Location Still Matters for PR

Even with national and global outlets in play, where a company is actually based shapes which journalists, wires, and local media relationships matter most. A financial announcement out of Mumbai has a natural fit with business-desk reporters and financial wires; a product launch out of Bangalore has a natural fit with the tech press that already covers that city’s startup ecosystem. Ignoring that local context and pitching identically everywhere tends to produce weaker results than a strategy that accounts for where a company’s story actually sits geographically.

That’s true for wire distribution as much as earned coverage. Global wires like PR Newswire and Business Wire give an announcement broad reach, but pairing them with an India-focused wire like PTI or ANI adds dedicated regional and vernacular pickup that a purely global distribution list won’t reach on its own — particularly relevant for companies whose customers, investors, or media audience are concentrated in a specific Indian market.
